Shark NV42 VS NV70: Which one the best?

Shark is one of the leading company on the market these days. It offers consistently great vacuums at ultra-competitive prices so it’s just the matter which one is suitable for your needs and budget. In order to continue my Shark vacuum review series, we will look at another great pair, this time the Shark NV42 vs NV70. If you missed my previous post, don’t worry. Shark NV42 and Shak NV70 belong to Shark Navigator line. It means you have very lightweight machines because the Navigator’s body is made from lightweight materials which allow less wear-and-tear. Also, this Shark Navigator line is perfect for those who have pets at home. Above all, it comes with low cost and with its amazing feature, you’ll see that machines in the series are totally worthy your money.

The full name of Shark NV42 is Shark Navigator Deluxe Upright Vacuum (NV42) and that of Shark NV70 is Shark Navigator Professional Upright Vacuum (NV70). Although they do have some similarities, they still shine on their own.

The Design

The most notable thing is that Shark NV42 and Shark NV70 are upright vacuums. It means you can have all the benefits which an upright vacuum offers. For example, it is efficient for cleaning carpets and rugs or with long hose, you don’t need to bend your back, and more. Shark NV42 vs NV70 come with different colors, champagne and gold/silver respectively.

The Portability

With the weight of 15 pounds, Shark NV42 vs NV70 are very lightweight. Hence, dragging them around from one place to another or even upstairs is not a big deal. They are perfect for those who have back pain, older people or housewives. Unlike Shark NV42, Shark NV70 features swivel steering and soft rubber wheels which make it very maneuverable around obstacles and overcomes the furniture without causing any damage. In order to clean difficult areas, vacuum cleaner swivels back and down, enabling its cleaning head to move and easily clean under the furniture.

The Cleaning Performance

It is the most concerned issue when it comes to purchasing a vacuum cleaner. Nowadays, besides the appearance, people prefer an excellent product to a coolly-designed but poor machine.

  • The primary feature of Shark NV42 vs NV70 is the never loses suction technology. It enable you to use all years without anxiety of losing suction power by dust or dirt getting stuck inside. In addition, this technology will power through the toughest messes, pick up stubborn pet hair and still have room for even more dust. In short, the power will be maintained form the beginning to the end of cleaning job.
  • Both of them come with a large dust cup capacity, especially Shark NV70. Its dust cup is larger than the Shark NV42, 1 dry quart and 3.5 dry quart, respectively. Their large duct cup offers great capacity do that you won’t have to worry about emptying frequently or stopping in the middle of process.
  • Shark NV42 vs NV70 have burshroll Shutoff which help clean carpet and bare floor effectively. What’s more, they both come with the pet hair power brush which pick various hairs easily from a variety of floors.
  • Only shark NV70 is equipped with anti-allergen complete seal technology with HEPA filtration. This system is well known for its capability of trapping approximately 99.9% of tiny particles, including dust, dirt and allergens. Those particles get stuck inside the machine and only let clean air come out.

The Accessories

They all come with similar attachments, including pet hair power brush (two different brushes), 5.5” crevice tool, dusting brush and wide pet upholstery tool.

The Price

Check them out on Amazon in order to receive good deals. Both of them have very reasonable price under $150, although Shark NV42 is cheaper than Shark NV70 (of course). Hence, I guess it’s a great news for those who want a budget machine. Don’t hesitate to try them all because I believe it is totally worth your investment.

The Feedback

All of above information is just theory. Therefore, I will summarize some experiences from their users for you to have better views.

The Shark NV42 receives pretty good feedback from its users on Amazon. It is rated 4.4 out of 5 stars. Many people called it a beast among others. In addition, they are totally satisfied and commented that they had never seen their house that clean before. However, there are a few who complained about the issue that it tended to tip over when using the attachments.

The Shark NV70 totally was praised for its performance with great suction power. Also, most of them gave it 5 stars and called it the best product they have ever had. Despite of those compliments, many people didn’t happy with the performance on carpeted stairs.
